Smooth river rocks, pebbles, clay and sand of every strata are just waiting in the creek for collection and sorting!  Panning for gold and gemstones is fascinating work and tons of fun.  We learn pioneering skills, make soap, candles, and other hands-on projects. Real Native American arrowheads have even been discovered. Cooking on an open-fire also brings joy and a sense of accomplishment during this action-packed week!

This camp is for the pony lover in your life.  We spend time every morning with our pony experts grooming, caring for and learning about these adorable equines.  We will learn about the care of ponies, brushing, feeding, bathing, safety and being around them.  How to lead, mount, and ride.  We will also be working on obstacles, communication, teamwork, character building and responsibility.  Pony-themed crafts, games, stories, art and more!  Musical saddles or square dancing anyone?  (Exception: Ponies Week is $385)

Is it just a watermelon? - or a peacock awaiting a magical transformation!
Campers learn to make wonderful, artistic creations using a variety of fruits, vegetables, and natural materials.  We do gardening projects and learn about plants, vegetables, composting and worms…and get our hands really dirty in the process!

Saplings are the "big kids" and explore the farm with the guidance of their loving counselors.  Based at the main farmyard, we take care for and learn about the animals, go creek stomping and fishing in our pond!

We also shoot bows and arrows, cook over campfires, and play fun group games.  We also do unusual crafts with natural materials and techniques following the weekly themes.

Summer Camp at Sun Star Farm - 2019

Explore, Dream, Discover…REGISTRATION OPENS DEC 3rd

Step back in time, slow the pace of our hurried modern lifestyle and allow your children to unplug and unwind.  We believe in nurturing children’s natural curiosity and love for nature.  We heavily focus on play and allow children the space and time to live fully into their play.

All weeks include a ton of one-on-one animal time, gardening, crafting, hiking, creek adventures, songs, games and more!  Our farm camp is split  into three different age groups to allow for age-appropriate activities, stories, creative projects and learning opportunities.  Each group has their own indoor and outdoor space to allow for flexibility and ease of adapting the rhythm of the day to suit the needs of the children.

Camp director, Heidi Watkins, a mother of three and educator, is on the farm at all times and is intimately involved in every aspect of the running of the camp and engaging the children at Sun Star Farm.  Come and see why our camp is loved and attended by families year after year.

You never know what you will find when you go on an insect safari here at Sun Star Farm.  We go hunting around the pond, in the forest and pasture too.  When you find something interesting, you can collect it, identify it and if you like, make a mini-habitat for it.  After observing them for a day, we release them back where they were found.  Great for inquisitive minds and filling the inner need to explore and discover!  Bonus: An exotic animal expert visits with an incredible menagerie for us to touch and see!

Let your little one enjoy our shorter version of Farm Camp.  Most of our time will be outdoors loving our smaller farm animals while in shaded areas, plus some time indoors for cooling off in the A/C and imaginative play and crafts. A loving, nurturing camp for your little one to immerse in nature, farm animals, and the work of children...play!  We follow the weekly themes with age-appropriate learning and crafts.

      5-day, 3-day, and 2-day
       Registration Available.

Petunia, Lolly and Pop, our feinting goats lead the way this week.  We take them on walks through the forest - just like walking your dog at home although more munching along the way! Cuddles and Patches stand out in our sheep herd.  We learn all about them and what makes them happy.  With sheep's wool and our mini-llamas fiber, we make amazing fiber art projects to take home so your child will remember their favorite member of the herd!

SUN STAR FARM CAMP "Seedlings"   Ages 4-6

Fairies & Gnomes Week!     June 10 - 14

Little fluffy bunnies - need we say more?  Our domestic lion-head bunnies are adorable and calm so campers can hold, care for, and learn all about them. Guinea pigs are sweet and always grateful for a blade of grass to nibble on (think "eating a spaghetti noodle one bite at a time")  Muckley, the Kune Kune pig, will be the star of the show this week - more like a big dog than a pig.  A good tummy scratch and he is in heaven.  Crafts, games, and other fun activities will have your little one hoppin' this week!

Did you know that fairies and gnomes live in our enchanted forest? See where and learn their clever ways!  Build teeny tiny houses using natural materials and these magical creatures may come to live at your home too.  Craft a beautiful fairy door to put in your room against a wall to allow fairies to magically enter and play. Paint fairy wands and make fairy or dragon wings to wear. Hear stories of these special little friends. Expect your child's imagination to be awakened!
