Sun Star Farm is hiring enthusiastic Lead Counselors for our summer day camp!
About this Position
Counselors are responsible for the care and safety of children at Sun Star Farm. We serve up to 24 children ages 4-8 with a nature and play-based curriculum. We go outdoors in all weather and care for and play with our farm animals everyday while engaging the children in a unique theme for the week. Your enthusiasm, decision-making, and pro-active effort will help create a positive camp experience and protect the physical and emotional well-being of campers.
Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
If you wish to be considered for the position you should have the following qualities:
- most importantly: a warm and nurturing way with children.
- delight in and enjoy being around all different kinds of children.
- experience working with children
- love working outdoors in the summer.
- should be hard working, flexible, proactive, positive, gentle and kind.
Desired Qualifications
Work experience as an educator and/or in a summer camp with preschool and school-aged children.
College Degree in education, environmental science, or agriculture is a plus
First Aid/CPR certification by first day of work
Be open to learning and utilizing Waldorf Early Childhood Education techniques and methods.
Schedule, Compensation, Benefits
Camp runs Monday – Friday during the weeks of June 12 through August 18.
Mandatory Training days are June 7-9.
It is possible to work only 6-8 weeks, rather than all 10.
Pay is Hourly, Depends on Experience
End of Summer Performance Bonus Possible
